R.A.D. Camps is a local business that operates Monday-Friday, from June to September.
Applicants should be passionate about outdoor adventure and working with kids ages 4-17. This is the best way to explore all of Central Oregon. With 5 vans and outings to over 50 locations, you will get the opportunity to go to a different site almost every day, all summer long!

We are hiring for both our R.A.D. Camps (ages 7-17) and our Sprouts Program (ages 4-6).

  • R.A.D. Camps is seeking passionate and outdoor-loving individuals to lead our youth outdoor day camps throughout Central Oregon. R.A.D. Sprouts offers summer day camps for children ages 4-6, where outdoor exploration and imagination merge seamlessly. In partnership with Wondery Art + Adventure School, we provide a dynamic blend of outdoor activities and indoor creativity to foster holistic child development.

    As a R.A.D. Sprouts Program Guide, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating memorable experiences for young campers. You'll lead them on outdoor adventures, foster their curiosity about nature, and occasionally assist in indoor art activities. This position requires a passion for working with young children, a passion for the outdoors, and a commitment to promoting environmental education.

 Let’s get down to the details!

  • R.A.D. Camps begins June 19th and ends Aug 30th! We have a 3-day training the weekend before camp begins (June 14th to June 16th) Staff must be relocated or already a resident of Central Oregon before training on June 14th, 2024.

    R.A.D. Sprouts begins June 17th and runs until August 30th. Training is the same for both programs.

  • We have Full-time schedules available! Full-time guides will work around 50 hours per week, Monday through Friday!

    Please note: Due to the nature of our programs, shift length is not flexible (we do not do mid-shift changes). Employees will expected to work the full 10 hours per day.

    We are pretty flexible with scheduling and will work out a schedule that works best for everyone!

  • Pay rates start at $17.00 per hour. Pay rate increases are based on education level, experience, and certifications.

  • R.A.D. Camps seeks individuals passionate about the outdoors, working with children, and adventure.

  • Sprouts:

    • Lead outdoor exploration activities at local state parks, encouraging children to engage with nature and learn about their environment.

    • Ensure the safety and well-being of campers during outdoor excursions, maintaining a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.

    • Occasionally assist with indoor art sessions at the Wondery Studio, fostering creativity and imagination through various artistic mediums.

    • Actively engage with campers, facilitating positive social interactions and encouraging teamwork.

    • Demonstrate enthusiasm for learning and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the program.

    • Collaborate with fellow guides and program coordinators to deliver a cohesive and enriching camp experience.

    • Uphold program policies and procedures, prioritizing the safety and happiness of all participants.

    R.A.D. Camps:

    • Supervise groups of up to 13 campers alongside another guide, ensuring their safety at all times.

    • Safely transport campers in our RAD Vans, adhering to all traffic laws.

    • Execute emergency protocols efficiently and safely.

    • Foster a positive and inclusive environment, encouraging campers to explore while adhering to Leave No Trace principles.

    • Communicate professionally with parents, campers, and staff on a daily basis.

    • Maintain accurate attendance records for campers.

    • Manage camper behavior sensitively and report any issues to management.

    • Attend all required meetings and training sessions.

    • Adhere to all rules and regulations outlined by the US Forest Service permits.

    • Must be a resident of Central Oregon or willing to relocate.

    • Minimum age requirement: 21 years old.

    • CPR/First Aid Certification required (can be obtained as part of training before the first day of camp).

    • Wilderness First Responder Certification and Lifeguard Certification highly preferred.

    • Completion of mandatory child abuse training (provided upon hiring).

    • Must pass a background check.

    • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record required.

    • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
