“My son loved his experience with R.A.D. camps. Lots of time outdoors,
and the kids get plenty of autonomy to choose how they'll play -
but with knowledgeable staff on hand to ensure everyone stays safe..”

Testimonials

"R.A.D Camps was the highlight of our summer. Each day we attended, our son got more and more comfortable with the outdoors and trying new things. Snakes, fishing, crawdads, swimming and hiking to name a few.  On the first day at drop off, the counselors greeted our son, he was pretty reserved, and quiet. They said “it’s gonna be great, we will grab you a snake”. He bravely left for the lake. At pick up he said he had the best day ever and had held a snake. This was the best summer experience we could give our child. The RAD counselors made every day a new adventure. He gained more and more confidence every day. RAD camp was a gift to our family. Our son can’t wait to come back and even talks about being a counselor some day. Thank you so much for sharing this summer with us. We will never forget it."

"This is my 8-year-old son’s first summer at R.A.D. Camps, and it is by far the best summer he has ever had! He’s having so much fun exploring and learning about the outdoors. And it’s awesome to watch his confidence grow as he makes new friends, engages in new adventures, and becomes more connected with nature. Plus, the guides are all so attentive, energetic, and amazing at what they do, and the staff-to-child ratio is so low, that the whole experience is completely unlike any other camp. We’re totally hooked on R.A.D. Camps!"

"Participation in R.A.D. Camps has been such a positive thing for my family. My two sons are looking forward to their third summer with R.A.D. Camps and will be joined by their younger sister this year! I am continually being amazed by the skills, knowledge and personal growth they have acquired through this experience. As well as building self-confidence, the program has also allowed them to build new friendships and establish a lasting connection to our beautiful state!"

"R.A.D. Camps have been wonderful for our son Sam.  In addition to fun and adventure, R.A.D. Camps have taught Sam to identify plants and animals, to be safe and start him down the road to self-reliance and appreciation of the natural world.  Now our seven-year-old daughter can't wait to start this summer."

Stephanie and Jonathan

"R.A.D. Camps is the only camp our son wants to go to this summer. Our experience with R.A.D. Camps has been first class. They have taken their passion for the out of doors and combined it with the simple pleasures of hiking, exploring, and learning. We are thrilled with what the R.A.D. Camps adventure has to offer."

Christen & Christian

"We love R.A.D camps! It has been an amazing experience for our son Alder. He is getting out and enjoying some of the most beautiful places that Central Oregon has to offer. There is nothing better than your kid spending the day hiking, swimming, caving and making new friends, including frogs! R.A.D. Camps have created a wonderful outlet for kids to experience things they might not have ever experienced before. We are thrilled to be a part of such a wonderful program and we look forward to getting "R.A.D." every summer!"

How to Register

1. Create your profile on Sawyer

Create your profile on Sawyer before registering to streamline your sign-up process and get familiar with the platform. You’ll want to have this ready when the link goes live!

2. Register your child

Once the registration link is open, you will be able to register your child. This link will be available on our website and in a reminder email. From there, you will see all the vans and the dates that will be operating. Choose a van and begin sign up! Don’t see your desired van or location? Keep checking back throughout the summer. Parents and campers adjust their schedules, meaning seats often become available.

3. Choose your Dates

If you’d like to register your child for a specific location rather than just by date, you’ll need to have our schedule handy. You can view images of it directly on Sawyer or download our PDF.

4. Let us know more about your child

After you have chosen which vans and dates you will be registering for, you will then enter all the important information that we need to know about your child! You’ve seen these forms before - waivers, allergies, etc.

5. Check out with ease

Once you have completed this step, simply check out, and you’re ready
for summer!!

Best Summer Camp Destinations in Central Oregon

Below is a description of each RAD Camps destination we offer. The names of our sites have been changed to help keep them secret and protect them from over-use. The stand-in names reflect the region of Central Oregon the location is in.

Deschutes 5

This spring-fed river comes to life in the middle of a forest! Once again, a tranquil oasis in the high desert and locals' favorite place for fly fishing. R.A.D. Campers start at the Fall River Fish Hatchery and adventure to Fall River Falls to play in the grass and the stream below the falls.

Newberry 3

This gigantic lake is truly R.A.D. The lake sports one of the best beaches around, and it has open timber surrounding it, which is great for playing games and exploring. Some campers bring fishing rods and try to catch the fish that call this lake home. Sometimes, we even go find “secluded” hot springs!

McKenzie 2

This relatively unknown basin is packed with scenic beauty and an abundance of wildflowers! It is a hike that’s roughly two-and-a-half-miles long where campers have an opportunity to explore a creek within the old growth forest, play games, and let imaginations run wild!
