Our R.A.D. Camps offer multiple outdoor activities for children, which include Summer Camp, Hoodoo Night Skiing, and After School Programs in the beautiful National Forests that surround Bend, Oregon. The purpose of these activities is to get children outside and allow them to connect with nature.

We help kids develop an appreciation and understanding of our natural environment and how we all play an essential role in protecting nature’s sensitive ecosystems. At R.A.D camps, children not only engage in free play, fun, and camaraderie but also learn a great deal about the environment.

Our programs teach children the following major components of environmental education:

  • Familiarizing R.A.D. Campers with the basics of environmental conservation.
  • Encouraging a positive and action-based attitude to improve the quality of the environment.
  • Engaging children in activities that empower them to find a feasible solution for environmental challenges.

Teaching children environmental stewardship is an integral part of the R.A.D. Camps experience and our programs encourage the following.

Scientific Reasoning and Creative Thinking Skills

As a part of Environmental Education, children learn about the different components of the environment, how they interact together, and the impact of certain activities on the environment. Environmental education exposes them to multiple complex scientific processes. It encourages them to find a feasible solution to preserve the environment’s integrity.

This practice increases scientific knowledge, boosts scientific reasoning, and encourages children to develop critical thinking skills. The combination of knowledge and the ability to evaluate the factors that impact the environment enables children to make informed pro-environment decisions.

A Healthy Lifestyle

Most children spend their time indoors, whether at school or home. Environmental education lets them explore nature and interact with its different components, such as flora and fauna. Spending considerable time outdoors promotes a healthy lifestyle. Outdoor activities enhance physical fitness and have a healing effect on children.

Breathing in fresh air and getting adequate sunlight can positively impact an individual’s health.

Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability

Environmental stewardship refers to the idea that protecting and conserving the environment is a shared responsibility. All those who benefit from the environment must work towards preserving its integrity through sustainable practices.

Through Environmental education, children from a very young age understand that they are stakeholders of the environment and that their actions should not harm the environment. This learning makes them more eco-conscious citizens.

Curiosity About Protecting the Environment

As the world becomes more aware of the pressing environmental issues, there is a growing demand for environmental specialists in the corporate world. Many careers create eco-friendly solutions to reduce our ecological footprint.

  • Environmental Engineers
  • Environmental Scientists
  • Hydrologists
  • Geoscientists
  • Urban Planners
  • Wildlife Conservationists

Children who receive Environmental education from an early age are usually inclined to pursue the environment as a career prospect. Environmental specialists have a fulfilling career, as they dedicate their lives to the betterment of the environment and humanity.

The adventurous and educational programs offered at R.A.D Camps encourage children to explore nature to the fullest. In 2009, Congress passed the No Child Left Inside Act and recently updated it in 2022. The act seeks to encourage and provide funding for environmental education.

Our activities are designed using the same slogan, i.e., No Child Left Inside at R.A.D camps. Through our programs, we ensure that environmental education is assimilated into children’s young and impressionable minds.
